The Merrillville-based Legacy Foundation is hosting a virtual event with Indiana State Representative Julie Olthoff.

Titled “2025 Indiana Legislative Session: Tracking a Bill,” the seminar will offer attendees a better understanding of the legislative process in Indiana.

Rep. Olthoff will provide an overview of the 2025 legislative session. Discussion topics will include:

  • The stages a bill takes to become a law in Indiana
  • How to track a bill online during the legislative session
  • How to engage with elected officials during the legislative session about specific causes

Olthoff currently serves as the District 19 Indiana State Representative. Born, raised, and educated in Northwest Indiana, Olthoff attended Lew Wallace High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Northwest and paid for her schooling by working as a cake decorator at Glen Park Bakery. Growing up in Gary and living in Lake County gave her an appreciation for the rich diversity in the community.

Olthoff has served as District 19's Representative for four terms, recently running unopposed in the 2024 election.

The seminar will take place 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 10 via Zoom. Learn more here.
