Three business leaders from Northwest and North Central Indiana were appointed to the Indiana Economic Development Corp. board of directors.
Gov. Mike Braun announced June 23 that he replaced eight members of the board with a nine new appointees.
“I spent my life building a business here in Indiana, and I know that having an entrepreneurial, high-energy team in your corner makes all the difference,” he said in a press release. “These appointments to the IEDC Board embody the freedom and opportunity agenda for IEDC: they hail from communities all around our state, bring experience from across the range of Indiana’s key industries, and each of them knows the importance of growing wages and creating job opportunities for Hoosiers because they’ve done it in their own communities.”
The three Region appointees include:
- Gus Olympidis, Valparaiso: Owner of Family Express Convenience Stores
- George Thomas, Granger: Entrepreneur and executive of Adorn, Duo-Form, Lakota Trailers, Misty Harbor Pontoons and Viaggio Pontoon Boats
- David Fagan, Portage: International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150
Outgoing members included Sue McCloskey, the co-founder of Fair Oaks Farms, according to an Indiana Capital Chronicle story.
“The IEDC is charged with growing the state economy, driving economic development, helping businesses launch, grow and locate in the state,” according to the IEDC's website.
The next meeting of the board is June 25.
