East Chicago-based Ameristar Casino and Hotel celebrated the opening of its new Baccarat room following a two-month renovation.

Community leaders, guests and Ameristar team members attended the opening celebration. Wong’s Lion Dance Association performed a traditional Lion Dance as a blessing to bring good luck. The reimagined space relocates gaming positions, dining and beverage options to the property’s land-based pavilion.

The new Baccarat room positions the popular game in a more central location on the landside portion of the property. The new Social Lounge bar located across from the Baccarat room will feature specialty cocktails.

“Ameristar East Chicago is thrilled to open the new Baccarat room and our full renovation for guests,” said Rob Swedinovich, Ameristar East Chicago vice president and general manager, in a press release. “These property enhancements will create a more enjoyable experience for all with better flow through the casino, delicious food options and modernized bar offerings.”

The renovated Baccarat room is on the third floor of the land-based Ameristar East Chicago pavilion. It replaces the Baccarat room previously located on the fourth floor of the connected riverboat.

“We are thankful to our community leaders with Wong’s Lion Dance Association for assisting in planning and carrying out a wonderful traditional blessing of the renovated site,” Swedinovich said. “Their artistry and partnership made the opening especially memorable.”

Ameristar East Chicago is operated by PENN Entertainment. It celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022. The milestone kicked off several property improvement projects.

In addition to completing the renovation, Ameristar East Chicago recently named Swedinovich as its new general manager. Swedinovich previously worked at Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley Race Course where he served as general manager. He has more than 25 years of experience in the gaming industry.
