A grant for $5,600 from Porter County Community Foundation to the Memorial Opera House makes possible the “Theatre for a New Audience” project conceived by the historic venue's Artistic Director, Scot MacDonald.  Thursday, February 20th, 2014 marks the launch of the program and Porter County Community Foundation will be on hand to present a check to Memorial Opera House.

Theatre for a New Audience's goal is to build a new audience for live theater by introducing students and their families to all aspects of the craft—acting, set building, lighting, audio production, etc. Following the final dress rehearsal there will be a panel disucussion and/or workshop with cast, crew and special invited guest.

Opportunity Enterprises will be benefiting as well, as Memorial Opera House will be partnering with OE for the  Friday, March 7th performance of “Anything Goes” for a Fundraising Night. The goal is to fill the 350 seat venue, as a percentage of each ticket sold will go to Opportunity Enterprises. The Simply Amazing Market will also be on hand to sell concessions before the performance and through intermission.

The historic Memorial Opera House in downtown Valparaiso at 104 East Indiana Avenue has stood as a beacon for the Arts for 120 years and is a regional treasure. View photos, a video and learn more by visiting www.memorialoperahouse.com
