La Porte airport gains solar array

The La Porte Municipal Airport recently celebrated their new solar array with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The solar array will generate 70,000 kWh, $12,425 in utility cost savings, in its first year, avoiding 61.7 metric tons of CO2 emissions. It is projected to save 1.33 million kWh, totaling more than $370,500 in energy cost reductions, over a span of 20 years.

The airport partnered with Veregy to advance its solar initiative. Arizona-based Veregy provides engineering and construction services. The company works to reduce energy and operating costs by implementing energy efficiency and infrastructure upgrades.

La Porte Municipal Airport is home to 75 private and corporate aircraft. La Porte Municipal Airport was founded in 1945.
