Gary-based IronWorkz Corp. is hosting a series of summer events for entrepreneurs and businesses starting May 18.
IronWorkz focuses on incubating businesses and promoting economic growth in Gary. The nonprofit organization’s goal is to revitalize the community of Gary by educating future and current business owners in the area.
“Entrepreneurship has been the spark that’s enabled me to create a strong plan to make chasing my dreams a reality,” said Emmani Ellis, IronWorkz COO, in a press release. “It’s provided me with a whole new perspective on life and how to tackle its challenges.”
IronWorkz’s summer educational events include:
- May 18: 2023 Reverb: The Exposure You Needed, IU Northwest Library
- May 25: Mindset Mastery: Embracing Errorz and Seeking Support, New Life Christian Center
- June 1: Cash Chroniclez: Conquering Tax Tanglez, Loan Landminez and Seeking Support, Tolleston Park Pavilion
- June 22: Rootz to Richez: The Cultural History of Entrepreneurship, Flourish Church
- June 29: Cross Cultural Connectionz: We’re Not All the Same, Faith Community Center North
- July 13: Innovate & Iterate: Entrepreneurship & the Art of Learning from Failure, location TBD
- June 27: I.G.N.I.T.E: Back to School Bash, Flourish Church

IronWorkz was created to provide resources that will generate equity within the Gary community. The organization's name is derived from Gary’s steel mill roots. The leadership team is comprised of Faith Spencer, Emmani Ellis and Alex Termini.
