Highland Griffith Chamber to host business event

The Highland Griffith Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an event Nov. 14, to assist small and prospective business owners and entrepreneurs.

The event, entitled I Have An Idea: Growing Your Business From Idea To Success, will feature vendors, a short presentation and informal roundtable discussions to support local current and prospective small business owners. The event is presented in partnership with Purdue University Northwest College of Business.

“My goal for the event is to provide assistance to small business owners, ranging from those who want to start a business but don’t know how, to those who are already in business, but want to take it to the next level,” said Lance Ryskamp, Highland Griffith president/CEO, in a press release. “I want to do that through informal roundtable discussions on specific topics such as finance and social media, as well as having vendors and business advisors onsite to help them to take the next step in their business journey.”

SCORE|NW Central Indiana, Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center, Legal Shield, Socially Good, Pepperbrook Design, Regional Development Corporation and the business incubator IronWorkz plan to attend.

“I am very excited with the feedback I have received so far from the local and regional business community, as well as from the staff and faculty of Purdue Northwest,” Ryskamp said.

Ryskamp said his goal is to feature vendors who can advise the event attendees and provide them with necessary services and expertise in such areas as finance, marketing, legal services and other essential business needs. He would like to hold the event annually, with possible events such as high school entrepreneur pitch competitions added to the program.

The event will take place 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 14, at Alumni Hall on the campus of Purdue Northwest. Coffee and networking begins at 8 a.m. Attendance is free. Learn more here.
