Drive Clean Indiana will present an EV boot camp and ride and drive Oct. 5 at the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission in Portage.
The event will offer an overlook of the basics of electricity used as an alternative fuel, vehicles powered by electricity and the infrastructure needed to power them.
The boot camp will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. in the NIRPC Lake Michigan room, 6100 Southport Road, Portage.
The event is part of a statewide initiative to promoted EV use called GOEVIN: GO Electric Vehicle INdiana.
The effort is a partnership between the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Drive Clean Indiana and the Indiana Utility Group. The effort's goal is to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles across Indiana.
St. John-based Drive Clean Indiana is the U.S. Department of Energy’s 71st Clean Cities coalition as of June 15, 1999, and is the only one in the state of Indiana.
