Woodland Child Development Center opens

Woodland Child Development Center recently celebrated the opening of a location in Gary.

The new center is at 4630 W. 10th Avenue in Gary.

A Level 4-rated child care facility, Woodland Child Development Center received microsite designation. It was chosen to pilot a new program for 30 children. The program is designed to help providers expand their services and bring child care to underserved communities across the state.

Woodland Child Development Center is led by longtime executive director Nina Burton.

“We are beyond honored to receive this designation and excited to get to work in my hometown of Gary,” Burton said in a press release. “Woodland is laying the groundwork to establish Gary as a hub for early learning innovation. This expansion will further solidify Gary’s leadership in the Region and beyond.”

The center aims to create jobs, stimulate local businesses and inject economic activity into the community.  Its goal is to prepare children for success in the school system, elevating the city’s educational outcomes and prosperity. The center will take a holistic approach and work to support and strengthen families.

“This exclusive initiative underscores Woodland's recognized expertise and positions Gary as a key partner in advancing child care excellence in the Region,” Burton said.
