Purdue University Northwest recently celebrated the anniversary of its founding by honoring faculty, staff and students.
PNW’s Founders Day is the opportunity for the university to recognize outstanding faculty, staff and students, along with other employees for their service. This year’s honorees were:
Outstanding faculty awards: Scholarship: Meden Isaac-Lam, professor of chemistry; teaching: Omeed Ilchi, assistant professor of criminal justice; engagement: Nicky Ali Jackson, professor of criminal justice and executive director of the Center for Justice and Post-Exoneration Assistance.
Outstanding staff awards: Academic Administrative Leadership: Rebecca Stankowski, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs; Administrative Leadership: Scott Parsons, senior director of facilities and grounds; Clerical Staff: Barbara Phillips, customer service representative, registrar; Caren Thomas, administrative assistant, facilities; Service Staff: Joshua Miller, custodian, building services; Michael Prater, grounds foreman, grounds; Management and Administrative Professional: Marla Ropp-Funk, procurement and auxiliary services administrator; Britt Hudson, interim dean of students.
Outstanding student awards: Undergraduate Student: Mya Bell, human development and family studies and political science double major; Graduate Student: Jason Wyatt, doctor of technology.
Additional recognitions: Purdue Focus Award: Pitparnee Stompor, clinical professor of hospitality and tourism. The award is given annually in honor of individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to furthering the Purdue system’s commitment to disability accessibility.
