Purdue University Northwest has launched The Digital Marketing Competition, a nationwide university competition where teams consisting of between two and four students create a digital marketing campaign for a real corporate sponsor.
Teams interested in participating should register at the contest’s website. Participating teams will receive a case study Aug. 15 outlining the digital marketing challenge, where they’ll perform research and formulate a digital strategy to accomplish a series of campaign objectives.
The contest consists of two-rounds, where in round one student teams submit an eight-minute video of their campaign ideas to be reviewed by a panel of digital marketing professionals. Videos are due Nov. 1.
Five teams will be selected from the submissions and invited to compete at the finals in the new White Lodging Professional Sales Lab at Purdue University Northwest’s Hammond campus.
“We’re extremely excited about the client we will be announcing in the coming month,” said Matt Hanson, clinical assistant professor of marketing at Purdue University Northwest and organizer of the event. “They’re financially strong, planning expansion into new markets, and are ready to embrace and roll-out the ideas that the students are going to provide in the competition.”
Hanson said the competition has partnered with Stukent.com, a provider of digital marketing courseware, which is used by 1,900 instructors in 40 countries.
Student teams that earn a spot in the finals will pitch their digital marketing campaign directly to the client’s senior leadership team. The first place team receives $1,000 with $500 going the second place team and $250 for third place.
