The Hammond-based Gifted Hands Academy will celebrate the grand opening of a new location on March 26.

Hammond city officials, the Department of Economic Development and Gifted Hands Academy invite community members to join the celebratory event at 1 p.m. March 26. Gifted Hands Academy will host the event at their new location at 6831 Grand Ave. in Hammond.

Gifted Hands Academy offers educational and training opportunities for individuals interested in allied health care careers. Allied health care professionals provide diagnostic, technical, therapeutic and support services. The academy offers phlebotomy and EKG tech courses. It will start offering a pharmacy tech program in this summer.

Tiffany Stokes founded Gifted Hands Academy in 2019. Stokes, a phlebotomist, wanted to create a school where area residents could receive hands-on training for a career in health care. She also focuses on community engagement.

“We don’t want to just show our students how to be successful through class, we want to demonstrate positive ways to build a community that supports each other,” Stokes said in a press release.

The school sponsors two students every year through its Ida Bell Scholarship. It also assists program graduates with job placement. Gifted Hands Academy is certified through the State of Indiana Office for Career and Technical Schools.
