Residents invited to Elevate Porter County workshop

Join county officials for a “wellness check” during the Elevate Porter County workshop “Charting Tomorrow Together” in February.

The open house will offer exhibits and activities that facilitate county planning and determine the “community's economic health.”

Elevate Porter County is the process for implementing a strategic plan that will include community input. Systems the initiative will focus on include populations, housing, employment, transportation, infrastructure, parks, land use and conservation.

“Porter County stands at a turning point,” according to promotional material provided by the county. “The economic foundations that built Porter County are evolving. While new residents keep choosing to call Porter County home, growth alone won't secure our prosperity. The question isn't whether Porter County will change; it's whether we'll be intentional about shaping that change.”

The free event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Porter County Expo Center, 215 E. Division Road in Valparaiso. Sign up here.

The Porter County Planning & Development Department, with the help of planning and urban design firm MKSK, is leading the comprehensive plan‘s development.
