The Northwest Indiana Forum will host three open houses in January, providing Ignite the Region initiative updates.
Ignite the Region: A Regional Strategy for Economic Transformation is the Portage-based organization’s economic development plan for Northwest Indiana. The 2025 update is focused on integrating arts, culture, tourism and sustainability into the strategy. The initiative includes Lake, Porter, La Porte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski and Starke counties.
In the coming months, the Forum will collaborate with a coalition of organizations and communities across Northwest Indiana to shape and refine the initiative. The Forum will unveil the updated strategy this spring.
This effort is supported by the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) program. Public Sphere Projects, a national planning and placemaking consultancy, is guiding the initiative.
The Forum invites community members to be part of the conversation, share their ideas and help create a strategy that ignites the potential of Northwest Indiana’s creative sector.
The three public open houses will take place:
- 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 15, IUN Arts & Sciences Building, Gary
- 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 17, Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Michigan City
- 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 18, Highland Barn, Rensselaer
