LCAC hosts event

Recent changes to Indiana’s tax policies are reshaping how local governments plan, budget and deliver essential services.

Local community leaders will gather to discuss what these changes mean for Lake County and for the communities across the Region.

The conversation will begin with an overview of recent state tax policy changes. Michael Griffin, Merrillville town manager, will break down what changed, why it matters and how these shifts are already impacting local communities.

The discussion will move into a panel conversation with three Lake County mayors. The mayors will share how tax cuts are affecting their cities, the difficult decisions they’re facing and the strategies they’re using to keep their communities strong.

Panelists include:

  • Mayor Josh Huddlestun, City of Hobart
  • Mayor Pete Land, City of Crown Point
  • Mayor Eddie Melton, City of Gary

Phil Taillon, South Shore CVA CEO, will moderate the conversation. Community members are invited to hear directly from local leaders about the challenges ahead—and how collaboration and innovation are shaping solutions for the future.

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 22, at the Avalon Banquet Center in Merrillville. Lunch will be served at noon. Learn more here.
