VALPARAISO – WorkOne has announced it is closing four express service centers in Northwest Indiana in the coming weeks.
Offices in Crown Point, East Chicago, Michigan City and Valparaiso will close. WorkOne’s full-service offices in Gary, Hammond, Portage and LaPorte will remain open.
WorkOne’s services are operated in Northwest Indiana by the Center of Workforce Innovations, which is working on a system to provide services to residents in the affected communities through partnerships with other community agencies.
The closings will save WorkOne $200,000 a year. Additionally, the closing are being prompted by an anticipated cut in program funding throughout the Indiana Department of Workforce Development budget.
