HAMMOND – The Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corrinne Drive, will hold an Operation Christmas Child packing party in conjunction with Samaritan's Purse.
The packing party will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, with a goal of packing 1,000 boxes. Volunteers will have stations set up throughout the lobby and will be welcome to walk the exhibit hall, which will feature “A Christmas Story” Comes Home.
Operation Christmas Child is an opportunity to teach youth the importance of giving back. Each box will be designated for a boy or a girl within a specific age range. From there volunteers will fill the boxes with small toys, school supplies and hygiene items as well as a letter for the child to read.
