VALPARAISO — United Way of Porter County (UWPC) is hosting its 5th annual Valparaiso Half Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 9, with all race proceeds going to UWPC’s Power of Youth Council. The student-led program holds fundraisers that benefit community programs that are focused on youth self-esteem.

Over 600 race participants and 100 volunteers from Northwest Indiana and neighboring states are expected to attend. Beginning at 8:30 am at the United Way of Porter County office, the race course features a flat and fast route, split times at every mile, energy drinks and water stations, and a half-way party including Power Gels. All participants are invited to attend the tented post-race festival with local food and a live DJ.

Runners can register for the half marathon online through 4:00 pm Nov. 8. Registration costs $50 through Nov. 8 and $55 on the day of the race. All runners will receive custom finisher’s medals, and runners who register before Oct. 27 will receive a long sleeve technical race shirt.
