HOBART – TradeWinds Services will mark the renovation of its recently acquired building from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at 3198 E. 83rd Place, Hobart.

“We’re not having a traditional ground breaking,” said CEO Jon Gold, “because the majority of construction will take place in the building’s interior.”

Gold said the decision to move from Gary to Hobart came after a two-year study of all aspects of the organization ordered by TradeWinds Board of Directors.

In addition to the proposed service expansion recommendations, the team said the 45-year-old building needed significant repairs and updating. When the price tag for the repairs came in at between $3 million and $5 million, the board instructed Gold to explore relocation.

The Hobart building was chosen as the best location and an anonymous donor put up the $1.25 million purchase price. Retrofitting and remodeling will cost $2.5 million to $3 million.
