Tate named manager of Driveline Division

SOUTH BEND – Charles B. Tate has joined Schafer Industries as manager of the company’s Driveline Division. The Driveline Division, whose assets were acquired last year from Dana Holding Corp., has two production facilities in Ohio.

The 120,000-square-foot assembly plant in Fredericktown produces axles for leisure, all-terrain and utility vehicles; transmissions and transaxles for ATVs; and related off-highway brake components and assemblies. The 30,000-square-foot facility in Blacklick produces aluminum gear housings, ductile iron differential cases and ductile iron brake components.

Prior to joining Schafer Industries, Tate held various quality and engineering management positions including operations and technical services manager for Dana Holding Corp. Tate most recently was senior production engineering manager for American SHOWA, Inc. in Sunbury, Ohio. He also served in the Marine Corps.

Tate has a B.S. in engineering technology from East Tennessee State University and a master’s in engineering management from Eastern Michigan University. He is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers as well as the American Welding Society from which he holds a license as a Certified Welding Inspector.
