VALPARAISO – Taltree Arboretum & Gardens has become one of only eight arboretums in the world to be awarded Level III accreditation by The ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program sponsored and coordinated by The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL.

This international initiative has four levels of accreditation, recognizing arboreta of various degrees of development, capacity and professionalism. Taltree was awarded a Level III accreditation by achieving particular standards of professional practices.

At Level III, Taltree is the highest accredited Indiana arboretum and botanic garden followed by The Purdue Arboretum in West Lafayette with a Level II accreditation and the Hartman Arboretum in Evansville with a Level I accreditation.

Taltree Arboretum & Gardens encompasses one of the most diverse collections of oak species in the nation and has created a safe haven for many rare plant and animal species through its restoration of the Northwest Indiana native landscape. The arboretum is a 360-acre, dog-friendly preserve of formal gardens, woodlands, wetlands and prairies that offers a variety of educational and outdoor experiences.
