MUNSTER — Patients who have suffered a painful compression fracture of the spine now have a new minimally-invasive treatment option. Surgeon Mark Chang, MD, on staff at Community Hospital in Munster is first orthopedic specialist in the state of Indiana to treat a patient with a vertebral compression fracture (VCF) using the new Kiva VCF Treatment System.
“The Kiva system is a minimally-invasive solution that reduces pain and restores function for our patients and serves as an advanced alternative to balloon kyphoplasty, the current standard of care used by surgeons,” said Chang.
