HAMMOND – Fifty-seven needy families in the Calumet area were recipients of a special Christmas through the Adopt-a-Family program supported by employees, volunteers, medical staff, executive and vendors of Franciscan St. Margaret Health.
The program is in its 26th years and allows departments or groups of friends to adopt a needy family. Employees work with wish lists, which may include clothes, toys for children and a Christmas dinner.
Employees deliver wrapped gifts, boxes of food and other donations.
Also taking part in the effort are Citizens Financial Bank, Hyre Electric, Kindred Hospital and South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority.
