EAST CHICAGO – HealthGrades has announced that St. Catherine Hospital’s emergency care is among the top 5 percent of all hospitals in the nation.
St. Catherine is among 263 hospitals in the country to receive the Emergency Excellence Award from HealthGrades.
The ranking was based on an examination of more than 7 million Medicare patient records from 2008 to 2010, looking at patients admitted through the emergency department for bowel obstruction, heart attack and stroke, chronic pulmonary obstruction disease, coma and diabetic acidosis.
