CROWN POINT – St. Anthony Medical Center is now offering patients the da Vinci Surgical System.
DaVinci consists of a robotic platform designed to enable complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach. Sister hospitals St. Anthony Memorial in Michigan City and St. Margaret Mercy in Hammond and Dyer already offer da Vinci.
The system went on line at St. Anthony Medical Center in December and has been used for prostatectomy, hysterectomy and pyeloplasty.
“I am so proud of our staff,” said Vyra Smith, nurse manager for surgery and endoscopy. “Implementation has gone better than I could have imagined. Our physicians and surgical staff have stepped up and gone above and beyond expectations through their dedication and skill.”
