KNOX — Charles W. Weaver, Executive Director of the Starke County Economic Development Foundation, has accepted an appointment to serve as one of thirteen (13) Judges from across northwest Indiana on the South Shore Wall of Legends and Legends Scholarship Project. The Wall of Legends is located at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond and honors people from northwest Indiana who have changed the world, and reflect the values of exploration and courage, and/or creativity and innovation. This year’s induction ceremony will be held on December 18, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. (Central) at the Welcome Center. Previous inductees have included Nobel laureates, Medal of Honor recipients, and others from many fields. In his role as a Judge, Weaver will help select this year’s inductees from among several who are nominated each year. The induction ceremony also includes an announcement of the winner of the Legends Scholarship, who must demonstrate the same qualities as the Legends inductees, and also celebrates an individual who overcomes challenges and obstacles in the pursuit of a dream of a college education and lifelong learning.
