PORTER – The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District has signed an agreement with Blueweb Mobile Media PLC of Florida to provide free Wi Fi service to commuters riding The South Shore Railroad.
The service should be available to passengers later this year and those using it will not need a password, says John Parsons, planning and marketing director for NICTD. He said passenger cars are now being wired and outfitted with the necessary hardware.
As part of the agreement with NICTD, Blueweb is installing the hardware for free in exchange for advertising revenue on the Wi Fi home page. NICTD also will receive a portion of ad revenue.
