South Bend seeks nominees for recognition

Nominations are now open for the South Bend Community Hall of Fame.

The South Bend Community Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made a contribution to the local community. Members of the hall of fame are civic-minded individuals who have dedicated their lives to service of the community.

The selection committee considers the following categories of accomplishments:

  • Arts
  • Athletics
  • Business and industry
  • Education
  • Public/community/government service
  • Science and technology

To be eligible for the hall of fame, candidates must have lived and worked in South Bend for 10 or more years, and continue to stay engaged with the community. They must have made significant contributions to the local community through service and have notable achievements at the local, state, national or international level.

Nominations are open from now until March 1. Candidates who are selected for the hall of fame will be inducted at an awards banquet Oct. 8. The South Bend Alumni Association’s website has more information.

Founded in 1985, the South Bend Alumni Association supports South Bend schools, staff and students. The nonprofit provides grants and scholarships for extracurricular activities and college scholarships. In the 2022-2023 school year, the alumni association gave $95,217 in funds for activities and impacted 8,218 families.
