Travelers out of South Bend International Airport in November will have Sarasota, Fla. as another warm-weather destination option.

Las Vegas-based destination discount carrier Allegiant Air will start seasonal non-stop service from South Bend to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport on Nov. 25. It will offer two weekly flights between late fall and early spring months, South Bend airport officials said in a statement.

The addition of the Sarasota, Fla. route gives Allegiant six destinations from South Bend. The carrier already provides service to Florida including Orlando and Tampa as well as Las Vegas and Mesa, Ariz.

“We are thrilled to add the sixth dot to our route map with Allegiant,” said Mike Daigle, South Bend International Airport CEO and executive director. “The addition of nonstop flights to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport from South Bend International during the cold winter/early spring months will allow residents of the greater South Bend region to enjoy fun in the sun with their toes in the sand on any one of the many Sarasota / Bradenton beaches.”

South Bend International Airport’s other carriers include American Airlines, Delta and United Airlines. A total of 368,877 passengers boarded flights at the South Bend International Airport in 2018, up from the 2017 total of 305,491.
