MICHIGAN CITY – On Friday, September 1, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM (CDT) Lubeznik Center for the Arts will again host musician Peter Aglinskas. Recipient of the Chicago Cultural Department's “Artists International” Award,Peter Aglinskas infuses his music with elements from the contemporary worlds of jazz, soul and rock, with technique firmly rooted in the classical music tradition. Enjoy Peter's sultry solo guitar stylings while you peruse the galleries. Admission is free and there will be a cash bar. New to the Area Artists' Association Gallery, experience artist Edwin P. Shelton's Spirit Portraits. Shelton creates abstract and conceptual depictionsof spirits. Transcend the physical through haunting and imaginative work unlike anything you've ever seen before.
Enjoy the exhibitions in the main galleries before they come down October 14. Home is a national-juried exhibition that explores the concept of home in allmedia. Sixteen artists were selected to exhibit work that investigates a variety of interpretations of the theme, such as shelter, family, immigration, homelessness, nostalgia and architecture. Also exhibiting is photographer Patty Carroll's striking series, Anonymous Women, about becoming the dwelling itself; experiencing the double edge of domesticity.
