HAMMOND – The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns has presented three region elected officials with Certified Municipal Officer Certification. They are Mayor Joe Stahura of Whiting; David Shafer, clerk-treasurer of Munster; and Andrew Kyres, city council president in Crown Point.
They complete work through the IACT Municipal Management Institute. Through the institute, elected officials are given the opportunity to sharpen their management and leadership skills, learn new techniques for tackling common local issues and learn how to improve services to the public.
