Region companies ranked on Chamber’s Best Places to Work list

Two Northwest Indiana companies landed top spots on the Indiana Chamber of Commerce‘s 2025 list of Best Places to Work in Indiana.

In the major companies category (1,000-plus U.S. employees), Chesterton-based CAPTRUST was No. 2 and Merrillville-based Centier Bank was No. 5. Edward Jones, which has agents throughout the nation, earned No. 2.

Mark Chamberlain, principal at CAPTUST, said the honor is particularly special because employees share their opinions in anonymous surveys.

“The people who work for me get a sense of pride … you get to say that about the place you work everyday,” he said.

He said earning a spot on the list is “pretty powerful” when recruiting new staff to work for CAPTRUST.

The investment advisory company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, acquired Lakeside Wealth Management in Chesterton in 2020 and Column Capital Advisors in Indianapolis in 2023. Employees at both locations voted in the survey.

He also said that “people don't leave” his company, which is an indicator of why employees give the company glowing reviews on the survey.

“Your culture is reflected in your surveys,” he said, which gives him the sense that he is “doing something right here.”

The chamber announced the rankings at its 20th awards dinner April 30 in Indianapolis. Edward Jones has been on the list all 20 years of the program. This is CAPTRUST's ninth year.

“We are thrilled to recognize a record 150 Hoosier employers that are making their employees a priority. It’s energizing to be able to share how each are innovating and authentically building cultures to enhance the lives of their team members,” says Indiana Chamber President and CEO Vanessa Green Sinders in a press release. “Learning about the amenities, open communication and comprehensive care they have for their employees is so encouraging and sets an example of what can be done.”

Winners were chosen in five categories based on the number of employees. Companies with headquarters out of state were allowed to participate if 15 full-time employees work in Indiana.

Other winners from the Region include:
