CEDAR LAKE – Radio One Communications has complete construction on a 500-foot tall radio transmission tower, the second-tallest structure in the region.

The project includes five years of planning and several months of construction. The tower will serve classic rock station WXRD-FM X-Rock 103.9 and adult contemporary WZVN-FM 107.1, The Z.

“The new tower consolidates sites for better management,” said Radio One Communications President Leigh Ellis, “as we put every effort forward to improve our broadcast signals and our ability to provide news, traffic, weather and community information to Northwest Indiana.”

As the tower undergoes tests and is tuned, Ellis said listeners may experience brief signal interruptions.
