Put a Spring Into Your Step

MICHIGAN CITY – Spring is here, which means most of us in the region are thinking about the things we love to do: gardening, golfing, camping, sports, or just playing with our families in the park. If anything is keeping you from physically enjoying what you love, it’s time to put the spring back in your step. Spring into LifeWorks is a free community event from 2-6 p.m., April 30 at IU Health LifeWorks, 3777 N. Frontage Road, Michigan City. It’s located just past Culver’s. The event includes keynote presentations by spine and joint experts, free screenings, tours, giveaways, and delicious healthy appetizers by Spire Farm to Fork Cuisine. Participants can interact with health providers as well.

“Spring has Sprung – Get Back your Back,” a presentation about advanced spinal surgery procedures will be at 2 p.m., by Anton Thompkins, MD. “Put Some Spring into Your Swing,” about shoulder injury and rehab will be presented at 3 p.m. by Anthony Levenda, MD. “Swim into Spring – Aquatics and Healing from Bone and Joint Surgery” will be presented at 4 p.m. by Erica McMahan PTA, ATRIC, featuring the healing technology of the HydroWorx Therapy pool at LifeWorks.

Participants can sign up for $25 Heart Cart screenings, (a $1,200 value!), and have other free screenings for abnormal blood pressure, hearing loss, diabetes and strength and balance. Tours of the facility including Wellness & Rehabilitation, the HydroWorx pool, and the open MRI, will be available as well. The first 200 guests will receive a free umbrella.

Spring into LifeWorks is free and open to the public. For more information, visit IU Health La Porte Hospital or Younger Life on Facebook, or call (219) 326.2415.
