HAMMOND — Plenty of pomp and celebratory activities are scheduled when Purdue University Calumet welcomes new and continuing students to its community of scholars and a new academic year, during Student Convocation festivities Thursday (8/22) on campus.

The seventh annual campus celebration begins at 11 a.m. with a procession of Purdue Calumet faculty and administrators attired in academic regalia to the center of campus near Founders Plaza. They will gather for a brief Convocation that includes remarks by Chancellor Thomas Keon. Following will be a panel discussion of faculty and students. Faculty will share their college experiences and insights, and students will discuss how to successfully pursue a Purdue education at Purdue Calumet.

Afterwards, students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy a Welcome Week Campus Resource Fair and lunch on the campus lawn. There will be food booths and music. Festivities continue until 2 p.m. In case of inclement weather, all activities will be held inside the Student Union & Library.
