Purdue Calumet Prof to Discuss ‘Inequality in Modern America’

HAMMOND — Purdue University Calumet’s fifth annual Faculty Lecture will feature longtime Professor of History Saul Lerner discussing inequality in America as a partisan and dividing political issue. The campus presentation is at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 18 in Alumni Hall of the Student Union & Library.

Titled “Inequality in Modern America: Causes, Consequences, and Future Prospects,” Professor Lerner will examine the division between Republicans and Democrats on differing economic viewpoints. Reviewing recent arguments and literature, he will discuss how inequality might be reduced and democracy expanded or more fully restored.

Admission is free. The Student Union & Library is located at 2233 173rd St.—one-third mile north of Interstate 80/94 on Indianapolis Boulevard to 173rd Street, four blocks east to campus. At the traffic light turn north into a large parking lot.
