Purdue Calumet offers Friday University

HAMMOND – Purdue University Calumet has announced its class schedule for its third annual Friday University series, set for Sept. 21 and Sept. 28. Friday University offers 15 single day non-credit courses of interest geared to adults with a desire to learn.

Classes are taught by Purdue Calumet faculty. Each class is two hours and is offered at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. A $50, one-day registration fee covers enrollment in two classes, continental breakfast and lunch between classes. Individuals can register to attend both days of four classes for $90.

Classes on Friday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m. to noon, are 101 Ways to Incorporate Computers in Your Daily Routines; Older, Wiser, Sexually Smarter: Sex After 50; The Historical Role of the Grassy Knoll; and The Basics of Digital Photography.

Classes on Friday, Sept. 21, 1 to 3 p.m., are Creativity in Generating Money Making Ideas; Creating a Master Race in America: The Eugenics Movement; All About 3D; and A Peep at the Past: Samuel Pepys’ Diaries.

Classes on Friday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m. to noon, are Experiencing The Mall: American History as Witnessed by the Great Memorials from Lincoln to FDR; The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks; and Sarcopenia & Aging: If Your Muscles Snooze, Your Body Will Lose.

Classes on Friday, Sept. 28, 1to 3 p.m., are Why Shakespeare: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern May be Dead, but Shakespeare is Alive!; The U.S. Presidential Contest 2012: Down to the Wire; Cancer Cell Research: The Scientific Legacy of Henrietta Lacks; and Wine Tasting (3:30 to 5:30 p.m.).
