Purdue Calumet to Become Doctoral-Granting University

HAMMOND — In response to demand for advanced practice nurses, Purdue University Calumet is poised to become a doctoral-granting university by participating in an innovative collaboration to offer a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program in northwest Indiana.

“There is a significant need for more advanced practice nurses prepared at the doctoral level to provide expanded primary health care and develop new models of improved, comprehensive health care delivery in Indiana,” Purdue Calumet Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Provost and former Dean of the College of Nursing Peggy Gerard said. “We anticipate admitting students for fall 2015.”
