HAMMOND — Purdue University Calumet’s College of Technology is introducing a training program to prepare individuals for jobs in advanced manufacturing. The training program—Project AWAKE (Assisting Workforce by Advancing Knowledge for Employment)—will take place at Purdue Calumet and offer 21 weeks of industry-recognized training in industrial electricity, mechanical components and programmable logic controllers.
Funded by a $2.7 million U.S. Department of Labor grant the university recently received, the training is intended for up to 300 individuals who are military veterans, TAA-eligible workers affected by foreign trade job loss and others employed in manufacturing positions who want to benefit from related certification.
Opportunities to participate in four-week internships also are available related to the training. Other information, including an online application, is available at www.purduecal.edu/technology/awake/.
