While many SJC students enjoyed a week at home during spring break, members of SJC’s Puma Women, an organization supporting women and women’s issues, spent the first two days of their break in Austin, Texas at the 2015 Women’s Empowerment Conference.

The two-day conference, which began on March 7, included sessions on a variety of topics including gender messages in media, empowering women with disabilities, and honoring everyday activism in our society. Four SJC students attended the conference: Kayla Wojcik ’17, Erin Hill ’15, Ashley Brinkman ’16, and Savannah Carver ’15. The four students made it their goal to attend as many sessions and workshops as possible to help gain a wider variety of information to bring back to campus. Director of Counseling and sponsor of Puma Women, Laura Wagner also attended the conference along with Sharon Moore, the SJC nurse.
