LAPORTE – The Indiana Department o Correction and the city of LaPorte have completed work on the Johnson Road Public Water Works Extension project that will bring municipal water to the Camp Summit Boot Camp.

The project extended city water two miles from Critchfield Elementary School to County Road 500 West to serve the state’s only military-style boot camp for teen offenders.

“This project is a great example of two governmental agencies cooperating to make the project a success, and ensuring the citizens of the area benefit from the Public Works project,” said Kevin Orme, director of construction services for the Department of Correction.

NIES Engineering Inc. of Hammond designed the project and construction was completed by deBoer Egolf Corp., Engineered Fluid Inc., and Fedewa Inc.
