A variety of free health screenings and wellness assessments will be offered at Porter Regional Hospital’s Spring Wellness Fair. The event will be held 8 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, April 11, in the hospital’s lobby, located at 85 East US Hwy 6 in Valparaiso.
The Spring Wellness Fair will include the following screenings and assessments: Bone density; Grip strength; Blood pressure; Pulse oximetry; Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) screening; Varicose vein assessment; Stroke risk assessment; Valvular disease assessment; Sleep apnea assessment; General foot screening.
Porter physicians and staff will be available to answer questions and provide information on arthritis, joint replacement, atrial fibrillation, chest pain, varicose veins and foot health. Plus guests will be able to talk to a Porter pharmacist about their medications and potential food and drug interactions. In addition to these screenings, women ages 40 or older will be able to receive their annual mammogram during the fair. To participate in the mammogram screening, a woman must pre-register in advance by calling 219-983-8399 and know the date of their last mammogram as insurance will be charged and only covers one mammogram screening annually.
