Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso receives national recognition for specialty wound care

Porter Health CareA niche wound treatment program of Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso recently earned national recognition.

Porter Regional Hospital medical staff and leaders celebrated receiving the President’s Circle award, presented to the hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Services department in recognition of earning a Center of Distinction honor. The department was awarded the national honor by Healogics, a national provider of advanced wound care services.

There were 621 centers nationwide considered for the award. Porter Regional Hospital was one of 10 to earn the honor.

Porter Regional Hospital achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction ratings higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent with 30 median days to heal.

The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Services department offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.

Porter Health Care System has two hospital campuses and numerous outpatient facilities serving Northwest Indiana.
