VALPARAISO – Porter Health System is using Donate Life Month in April to celebrate its Silver Award for organ donation performance from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The award denotes Porter as a Health and Human Services’ 2010 Medal of Honor hospital, only of only four in Indiana to receive the designation.
“More people than ever are awaiting a life-saving organ,” said Bonnie Turman, nurse educator. “Porter follows a collaborative model to institute best practices for donation and transplantation, so we can help more people and families in need.
