WESTVILLE – Purdue University North Central will host a free basic weather spotter training class at 4:30 p.m. on March 14 in Room 02 of the Library-Student-Faculty Building.

The LaPorte County Emergency Management Office and LaPorte County Skywarn, along with the National Weather Service, will conduct the training session. The two-hour class is open to the public, law enforcement, fire departments, EMS and amateur radio operators. Registration is not required.

“This class will be ideal for the person who wants to become a weather spotter,” said Robert Gaekle, chief of the PNC Police Department.

The National Weather Service requires weather spotters to attend a weather spotter class every two years to remain active. For more information call the LaPorte County Emergency Management Office at (219) 362-7210.
