PORTAGE – The Portage Economic Development Corp. has announced the hiring of Bert Cook as executive director.
He is a native Portage, graduated from Portage High School and is a graduate of Purdue University North Central with a degree in business management. For the past five years Cook worked for the Greater LaPorte Economic Development Corp. as project manager.
“The PEDCO Board of Directors has expressed a desire for the organization to become a more active part in the development of the Portage Business Community,” said Diane Thalmann, president of the board. “As such we are excited to bring back to Portage an individual with economic development experience, local connections, and enthusiasm about this community.”
At the same time, PEDCO announced it was moving its office to 2642 Eleanor St. and will share the building with the Portage Chamber of Commerce.
