GARY — The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana and the Northwest Indiana McDonald’s Operators (NIMO) will celebrate the fifth anniversary of Pantry on the Go community program. Pantry on the Go is a mobile pantry that distributes food to residents who may not have access to a traditional food pantry. Grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy and proteins are distributed to hundreds of food insecure individuals weekly from March through December.

The Banta Center (605 Beech Street) in Valparaiso will host the first pantry of 2015; Wednesday March 25th. All pantries are held on Wednesdays from 4pm to 6pm (unless otherwise noted). Residents of Lake or Porter County are asked to bring proof of residency (photo ID, utility bill, etc.) and bags and boxes to carry their items. Pantry on the Go dates and locations can be found at www.foodbanknwi.org in the Programs section. The Food Bank releases the locations monthly so those in need can plan accordingly. The locations and times are also shared on Facebook and Twitter each week. Call the Food Bank at 219.980.1777 with any questions.
