Opportunity Enterprises' Simply Amazing Market has been rebranded as Do Goodies.
The shop, which first opened in 2006, sells popcorn, fudge and other treats. The new name comes with the goal to put the sweets on retailer shelves.
“Do Goodies offers a variety of delicious treats, but it also plays an important role in fulfilling OE’s mission of creating inclusive and equitable opportunities for people of all abilities,” said Kacie Ensign, chief development and communications officer, in a press release. “When someone buys from Do Goodies, they’re supporting a business with an entirely inclusive workforce. Whether they come into our factory store at OE or buy a gift box online, they’re showing that inclusive companies are viable in the community. That’s ultimately our goal.”
Each purchase comes with a card that explains the story of the nonprofit's mission of an inclusive workforce.
OE announced a new strategic plan this year that highlights the organization's commitment to making work inclusive to all.
Eight kinds of popcorn are made at the store at 2801 Evans in Valparaiso, where they can be purchased.
OE was founded in 1967 and employees 370 people. It serves 1,000 people in Northwest Indiana every year.
