October First Fridays Celebrates Oktoberfest

SOUTH BEND — Downtown South Bend Inc.’s (DTSB) October First Fridays celebrates Oktoberfest Friday, October 7th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Free entertainment, live demonstrations, food & drink spe-cials, and other activities can be found throughout downtown South Bend within the 65 participating businesses.

First Fridays: Oktoberfest will feature fall activities, including pumpkin carving and enjoying pumpkin-spiced flavors throughout downtown. There will be an Oktoberfest celebration, featuring live music, German food, and a beer garden, as well as the last architectural walking tour of the season. In addition, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra will be hosting their first open rehearsal.

For easy transportation, Transpo will be offering free shuttle rides throughout downtown. The shuttle will run at each stop every 15 minutes from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The shuttle rides will also include a free mini tour of downtown, as the Shuttle Tour Guide entertains riders with historical tidbits, fun facts, and info on First Friday activities and promotions.

DTSB First Fridays features over 65 participating businesses and takes place from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the first Friday of every month year-round. Participating businesses remain open or host special events at a free or reduced rate. Future 2016 First Fridays dates are November 4th and December 2nd. First Fri-days are sponsored by U93, TCU, Visit South Bend Mishawaka, The LaSalle, Transpo, and Purdue Poly-technic.
