Northwest Health names new chief nursing officer for La Porte, Starke sites

Scott Ellis has been named chief nursing officer for Northwest Health’s La Porte and Starke hospitals.

“We are happy to welcome Scott aboard,” said Keith Nichols, CEO for Northwest Health La Porte and Starke hospitals. “He comes to us with extensive experience in developing and growing new nursing services … He also has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities focused on delivering outstanding patient experience while fostering a positive nursing culture.”

Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from South Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He received a doctor of nursing practice: nurse executive leadership and innovation degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina and his MBA from Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Ellis has more than 20 years of healthcare experience and most recently served as vice president of patient services and chief nursing officer at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. He also served as director of patient care at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights in Houston, Texas.

As CNO, Ellis will oversee all nursing departments, pharmacy, lab and the Northwest Health Bariatric & Medical Weight Loss program.

Ellis replaces Antra Jones who now serves as the CNO at Northwest Health – Porter in Valparaiso.
